At least eight of the 10 men’s IPL franchises will be bidding to own teams in the Women’s IPL. The IPL teams are not the only entities to have bought the tender document, which the BCCI put on sale from January 3. Interested bidders have until January 13 to submit questions, with January 23 the deadline to submit the technical bids for evaluation, which the BCCI will conduct along with the Mumbai-based law firm Argus Partners.The BCCI has listed 10 Indian cities and the venues in the tender, which allows a single party to bid for more than one city. There is no base price set, and bids will be accepted for a 10-year period (2023-32).Among the eligibility criteria listed in the tender document, the BCCI has said the audited net worth of the bidder must be at least INR 1000 crore as of March 31, 2022. Consortiums or joint-ventures companies, the BCCI has said, are not eligible.How will the bids be evaluated?
The BCCI has included a key clause in the selection of the winning bid, saying it would not be “obliged to accept highest monetary offer”. This is similar to the clause the ICC had laid down when it sold media rights for women’s global events for the 2023-27 period last year. The BCCI has stated it will look at the vision bidders have towards enhancing the profile and accelerating the growth of women’s cricket in India.Listing the objectives it desired in a potential successful bidder, the BCCI said: “establishing a stable, successful, financially secure, long-term Franchise to participate in the League; ensuring the widest coverage and the widest possible audience for the League; assisting in the development of the game of women’s cricket in India at all levels; maximizing and enhancing exposure, wherever possible, for each of the official sponsors of the League; increasing and enhancing exposure for women’s cricket in India both within India and the rest of the world.”The BCCI has earmarked March as the window for the WIPL in the tender. While the BCCI has not formally announced the dates for the inaugural season, it is expected to start around March 5 and finish around March 23.

Bernardo Silva agrees personal terms to leave Man City for PSG

According to reports in Spain, Bernardo Silva is set to leave Man City at the end of the season, with Paris Saint-Germain a likely destination. It is claimed that Silva has already reached a personal agreement with PSG, who see the attacking midfielder as a player that will fit perfectly into Luis Enrique’s plans due to his versatility and quality.

Guardiola and City are happy for Silva to depart, however, they have set a €50m (£41.5m) asking price on his shoulders. The 30-year-old, who has been at the Etihad since 2017, picks up £300,000-a-week with the Sky Blues and has won 17 honours with City, including six Premier League titles.

Silva has come in for plenty of praise during his Man City career, with Guardiola saying towards the end of 2023: “I could stay here and talk for 10 minutes on what Bernardo Silva means for me and our team. He is a player that is beyond good in all departments – solidarity, intelligence, he understands everything. We are in love with him.

To say that the Villans endured a hectic winter window would be an understatement. Emery’s side have particularly thrived in the Champions League, securing an unexpected place in the last eight where they will square off against Paris Saint-Germain in a mouth-watering tie. It’s then that Villa will be looking to cause their greatest upset yet against a side Emery knows all too well from his time in charge of the French giants many moons ago.

Even after such a successful January window, however, those in the Midlands are reportedly not done there. According to TEAMtalk, Aston Villa are now plotting a summer move to sign Joao Felix from Chelsea following the forward’s mixed loan spell at Milan.

Having been interested in his signature in January but ultimately failing to pursue a deal for the Chelsea man, Villa could now finally get their man when the summer arrives. Given that Emery is a fan of the former Atletico Madrid star too, Felix may rediscover his best form at long last by completing a move to Villa Park.

"Smart" Felix needs next move to work

Now 25 years old, many believed that Felix would be a world-beater by this stage of his career, but from Atletico Madrid frustration to Barcelona struggles and a lack of minutes at Chelsea, things just have not followed the predicted path for the Portuguese forward. Having endured further inconsistency at Milan too, he needs his next move to work.

That’s where Emery and Villa could come in. The Midlands club have already overseen the revival of Asensio, who is thriving in the Midlands, and could yet help Felix to rediscover a similar vein of form. Given that he is also under the same agency as Asensio, Villa could find negotiations far simpler to agree than previously.

Despite a difficult time at Chelsea, Felix still earned some impressive praise from the likes of Benoit Badiashile, who dubbed his teammate a “smart player” back in November.

However, whether it’s Aston Villa who will finally benefit from that intelligence remains to be seen. At something of a crossroads, Felix’s next move may well prove to be the most important decision of his career yet, especially if Emery comes calling.

O JOGO
​A partida começou tranquila, com poucas chances. As equipes demoraram a finalizar, pois entraram bem fechados. O Cuiabá, mesmo jogando fora de casa, teve mais posse, mas não converteu em chegadas de perigo.

Aos 39, quando o zero ainda não tinha saído do marcador, Matheus Alexandre levantou na área. Igor Paixão desviou, mas Camilo falhou. Alef Manga não desperdiçou e mandou para o fundo das redes, abrindo o marcador para o Coritiba.

A segunda etapa, assim como durante o primeiro, também foi mais calmo e sem grande criação. Precisando do resultado para não voltar ao G-4, o Cuiabá demonstrou muito nervosismo e falhou em diferentes chegadas.

Pepê, Gabriel Pirani e Igor Cariús chegaram a finalizar, mas os três mandaram para fora. Enquanto isso, o Coritiba ficou bastante fechado e soube se defender bem. O Coxa sequer assustou a meta de Walter. No final, ainda, Thonny Anderson levou o cartão vermelho e foi para o vestiário mais cedo.

Pakistan’s foreign office has confirmed it is evaluating all aspects of Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ODI World Cup in India. This is the first public indication from the Pakistan government about taking up an issue that has been pending for a while and has even resulted in a delay in the ICC announcing the tournament’s fixtures list.Pakistan’s involvement in the World Cup is subject to their government’s approval. The PCB had written to the ICC, following the release of a draft schedule to all participating countries a few days ago, to stress that they cannot unilaterally approve the fixture list and the decision will eventually have to come from their government.”We have received the official invitation from the Indian prime minister to our prime minister for the virtual meeting of the heads of state of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation that is due to take place on the 4th of July,” a spokesperson for the Pakistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, said in a weekly media briefing in Islamabad. “Pakistan will be represented at the summit. We will be making an announcement regarding our participation in the coming days.”Regarding cricket, Pakistan is of the view that politics should not be mixed with sports. India’s policy of not playing cricket in Pakistan is disappointing. We are observing and evaluating all aspects relating to our participation in the World Cup including the security situation for Pakistani cricketers and we will offer our views to PCB in due course.”The 2023 World Cup, as reported by ESPNcricinfo, is slated to begin on October 5. The India vs Pakistan fixture is set for ten days later in Ahmedabad. It is one of five venues that Pakistan are scheduled to play at during the league phase.Due to strained political relations between the two countries, Pakistan have not toured India since the 2016 T20 World Cup, and even back then there was uncertainty around Pakistan coming to India. The PCB had threatened to pull out of the tournament unless they had clear and public assurance from the Indian government about the security to be provided to their players. These negotiations eventually resulted in the India-Pakistan match having to be shifted from Dharamsala to Kolkata.The PCB has requested the ICC to swap venues for two of their league matches in the 2023 ODI World Cup based on an internal assessment of the grounds they are due to play at. Pakistan are currently scheduled to play Australia in Bengaluru on October 20, and then Afghanistan in Chennai on October 23 but have asked for a change where they play Afghanistan in Bengaluru and Australia in Chennai. The request has been turned down. Normally, security is the primary reason for a venue change at an ICC event. There was no mention of a security threat in the PCB’s internal assessment.Given the already unprecedented delay – World Cup itineraries usually go out a year in advance – the ICC is hoping to finalise the fixture list and provide it to the public by next week. Pakistan have until then to relay their concerns, if any.
