Leeds United have sounded out Liverpool about a move for winger Ryan Kent this summer, according to website Football Insider.

What’s the story?

Leeds still have ambitions of making a sensational return to the English Premier League after narrowly missing out in the play-offs last term.

Marcelo Bielsa needs to make improvements to his team and considering they scored less goals than any of the other top five sides in the Championship, it’s in attack where great strides can be made.

One player the Elland Road side are looking at is Liverpool’s Ryan Kent, say Football Insider.

The website reckon the Anfield club have yet to make a decision on his future but that Leeds have made an approach to ask for information on his status.

Kent is coming off the back of a successful season at Rangers where he found a regular starting spot under manager Steven Gerrard.

An entertaining winger who can dazzle with the ball at his feet, he showed notable growth from the start of the season to the end, which is encouraging when considering the potential he holds with more first-team football under his belt.

His style of play was a massive hit with supporters, many of whom are desperate to retain his services at Ibrox.

The Elland Road faithful also love an entertainer so it that respect it wouldn’t take too long for Kent to be a hit at Leeds if he did move there.

Low output

One area of his game Kent needs to improve is in the amount of direct goal contributions he makes across a season. That total stood at 15 for Rangers last term, consisting of six goals and nine assists.

While that may sound decent, it’s important to consider that the Gers dominate possession and chances against lesser opposition in most of their matches north of the border.

It’s a total that wouldn’t make the top three in the Leeds squad in the same time period and considering Bielsa is likely looking for significant upgrades on attacking performance, Kent would have a challenge to rise to.

Nonetheless, the signs are there he can reach those levels and now having experience of playing for another big club like Rangers, he can also deal with the mental challenges of shooting for promotion.

It’s a transfer worth pursuing for Leeds if they can figure out agreeable details on a deal.

وتابع: “محمد صلاح على وجه الخصوص، مانشستر يونايتد يستغل هفوات الهجوم وأخطاء المنافس من أجل تشكيل الخطورة”.

To think that Aston Villa are in the market for a new goalkeeper is almost baffling.

Yes the club could do with more Premier League experience as they return to the top-flight, but their dealings in the window so far suggest that’s not what they’re after.

All four of their new signings have no Premier League experience with the club confirming the additions of Jota, Anwar El Ghazi, Wesley and Kortney Hause.

However, after Jed Steer’s remarkable turnaround throughout the latter stages of 2018/19, it feels incredibly harsh that he may now be demoted to being second choice again.

In recent weeks the Villans have been linked with moves for both Neil Etheridge and Jack Butland. The former was the subject of an £8m bid, only for it to be rejected, whilst The Sun claim that the latter is being eyed in a potential £20m swoop.

On that evidence, signing Etheridge is surely the better proposition. Villa need to be careful with the funds they part ways with this summer and spending £20m on a position where they don’t really need strengthening would be questionable.

A second bid for Etheridge is in the pipeline but it seems unlikely they’d have to part with a fee as high as the one being touted for Butland – he’s older, doesn’t come with the English player premium an his contract expires in two years.

But, should a move for either ‘keeper materialise, who would be the better option?

It’s difficult to assess the two considering Butland spent a season back in the Championship but it would feel natural to suggest he’s the better stopper.

After all, this is a player who has continuously been called up to the England squad despite not staying in the Premier League after Stoke’s relegation.

Etheridge, however, has spent a term in the top-flight and more than looked the part, saving two penalties in his opening two Premier League games.

He became the first goalkeeper to achieve that since Erik Thorstvedt kept out two spot kicks for Tottenham back in August 1992.

Etheridge’s prowess at saving penalties could be key, but there are other areas to suggest he’d be a better signing than Butland.

Last term, the Cardiff man made 3.6 saves per game. He was tested on a regular basis as the Bluebirds battled for relegation and nearly survived, only for a number of debatable calls to go against them in the final stages of the campaign.

Yet despite going down, the 29-year-old was their star man as he won their Player of the Year award for 2018/19.

Butland, on the other hand, made 2.8 saves per game. But it’s from shots inside the penalty area where the Philippines ‘keeper proved himself to be a real difference-maker.

His reflexes are brilliant and that’s evident in the large proportion of stops he makes from close range, making on average 2.5 saves per match from efforts taken inside the box.

The one underlying negative though is his distribution, something that can be seen in his concerning pass percentage of 32.3%. Butland is considerably better in that department, but when it comes to actually denying goal scoring opportunities, Villa’s other target had a more productive campaign.

Bringing in the Stoke goalkeeper would undeniably be a good signing but costing a potential £20m, Etheridge is better value for money.

He rarely put a foot wrong for Cardiff last term and Villa could be assured of adding a reliable and efficient operator between the sticks if they moved for the former Fulham man instead.

Ahead of a return to the top-flight, Villa will need to be shrewd. If they can get a deal over the line for Etheridge in a transfer that would likely cost less than what Butland would, it has the potential to be far better business.

What an exciting transfer window this is shaping up to be for Everton supporters.

After signing Andre Gomes from Barcelona permanently following his successful loan spell last season, the Merseyside club could be about to do the same thing with Kurt Zouma.

According to BBC Sport, they have made the 24-year-old their next top transfer priority, with Chelsea likely to demand in excess of £30m.

The Blues, however, would be crazy to sanction a deal before bringing in their new boss. Winning 3.1 aerial duels per game in the Premier League last season (as per WhoScored), Zouma would maintain a real aerial presence to the team’s backline.

If Chelsea’s next manager has other ideas, though, selling Zouma could prove to be a smart bit of business.

At £30m, the west London club have the chance to make just under £17m profit after buying the Frenchman from Saint-Etienne for just £13.14m back in 2014 (as per Transfermarkt).

And it is not like Chelsea will be short of options at the back. They already have David Luiz, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen to call upon while Fikayo Tomori is also there for back-up.

Whatever the case, it will be interesting to see what the next man in the Stamford Bridge dugout does. But for £30m and with his approval, Chelsea could end up playing a blinder here.

According to the print version of Leggo (via Sport Witness), Everton have made an enquiry for Roma forward Diego Perotti along with Ligue 1 side Marseille.

The 30-year-old struggled for game time last term having made just 13 appearances in Serie A, and given his age and contract situation – his deal is set to run out in 2021 – Roma appear to have deemed the 5 foot 10 attacker as surplus to requirements.

The Italian side have reportedly offered the Argentina international in a player-plus-cash deal for Nicolas N’Koulou, reinforcing the fact that they don’t want him anymore – going by this, the player shouldn’t cost Everton too much given Roma’s stance on him and his £10.8m valuation on Transfermarkt.

You may be wondering why the Toffees are considering signing Perotti given the aforementioned reasons.

However, the man who has netted 26 goals in 112 games for Roma since arriving in 2016 could be of use to Marco Silva and offer the Toffees a potent option from the bench – something that the Merseysiders don’t really have.

Their top-scoring substitute last season was Cenk Tosun with two goals in 15 appearances from the bench, whilst Dominic Calvert-Lewin entered the field from the bench 16 times and netted the same amount – nothing here suggests Everton have a serious game-changer.

To contextualise things, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang came on six times and scored four goals, whilst Chelsea midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek often changed the game for the Blues by also netting four goals upon entering the field in his 18 showings.

Perotti managed to make just 13 appearances last term, as aforesaid, but impressively managed to notch five league goals – only six of his appearances were starts.

To be able to get involved with such little game time and with barely any rhythm to his form given his stuttering amount of appearances is eye-catching from Perotti, and suggests that he doesn’t really need much time or a suitable system for him to do his thing – he can simply turn up and make an impact.

This could be a valuable asset to Silva and finally offer the former Hull boss a deadly weapon from the bench.

أكد مصدر مسؤول بالاتحاد المصري لكرة القدم،  رفض ذكر اسمه، أن اللجنة الثلاثية تعترف بالأخطاء التحكيمية التي تشهدها مسابقة الدوري المصري الممتاز، مشيرًا إلى أن الجبلاية تتحمل جزءا من تراجع مستوى الحكام.

وأثار التحكيم المصري جدلًا كبيرًا في الدوري الممتاز خلال الفترة الأخيرة، وكان أخرها مباراة أمس بين الأهلي وبيراميدز، حيث يرى بعض خبراء التحكيم أن هدف المهاجم والتر بواليا للأهلي في شباك بيراميدز صحيح، وآخرون يرون أن الفريق الأزرق كان يستحق ركلة جزاء.

وأوضح المصدر في تصريحات خاصة لـ”بطولات”: “نقر بأن هناك أخطاء تحكيمية في المباريات، واتحاد الكرة يتحمل جزءا من تراجع مستوى الحكام”.

وأكمل: “الحكام في حاجة إلى تدريب مُستمر، أخر معسكر للحكام كان من سنة ونصف تقريبًا”.

وأضاف: “أخطاء تقنية الفيديو أيضًا لنفس السبب، هو تراجع المستوى الفني التحكيمي بشكل عام، نضع خطة حاليًا لتدريب الحكم وتحليل الأخطاء بشكل أسبوعي، بعد رحيل جمال الغندور”.

واختتم: “اتحاد الكرة أهمل الحكام وتغافل عن تنظيم معسكرات الحكام وتحليل أخطائهم والعمل على الارتقاء بمستواهم الفني، واتحاد الكرة وضع خطة ستُنفذ في الفترات المقبلة للارتقاء بمستوى التحكيم”.
