A goleada do Náutico por 5 a 0 sobre o Central, manteve o time na terceira colocação do Hexagonal do Título, agora com 15 pontos. Entretanto, a vitória não foi o destaque da partida, e sim a situação do Central, que passa por uma grave crise e começa a afetar até o bem-estar dos jogadores que compõem o time.

Após a partida, o zagueiro Sanny Rodrigues declarou que os atletas do Central entraram em campo com fome. A última refeição que os jogadores fizeram foi durante o almoço. Inclusive, um de seus companheiros passou mal pouco antes da partida, por estar a tanto tempo sem se alimentar.

-Tem muitas coisa erradas aí, é difícil falar. Nós almoçamos era meio-dia e depois não teve mais nada. Nem lanche, nem nada. É complicado demais. Conseguimos até onde deu, depois as pernas pesaram. Isso fez a diferença, mas vamos batalhar. Só almoçamos para o jogo.

Atualmente, o Central é a equipe mais vazada e tem pior campanha do Hexagonal do Título. O time, que acumula apenas três pontos, sofreu 25 gols durante a segunda fase do Campeonato Pernambucano. Além disso, os salários dos jogadores estão atrasados, o estádio Lacerdão apresenta péssimas condições na estrutura e no gramado e ainda há dívidas trabalhistas a serem acertadas.

Sensibilizado, o técnico do Náutico, Milton Cruz, comentou sobre a crise da Patativa, parabenizou a equipe pelo jogo e pediu mais atenção para a situação deplorável que os atletas do time estão vivendo. Até água falta para o Central.

– Isso que aconteceu hoje é uma coisa que nos deixa tristes. Até no intervalo ali eles (os jogadores do Central) pediram água para nós… É muito triste. Mesmo assim, quero parabenizá-los por terem jogado com honra, levaram cinco gols e não apelaram, não deram pontapés e se portaram muito bem dentro de campo. Merecem os parabéns por tudo o que suportaram hoje, que não foi fácil.

O São Paulo abriu nesta terça-feira a venda de ingressos para o clássico contra o Corinthians, no próximo domingo, às 19h, pelo jogo de ida da semifinal do Campeonato Paulista no Morumbi. Steve Howey believes losing Youri Tielemans would come as a bigger blow to Leicester City than seeing James Maddison depart this summer.

Belgium international midfielder Tielemans, who scored the winner as the Foxes got their hands on the FA Cup for the first time in their history in May, has been attracting interest from Liverpool.

Reports published by Belgian media outlet Voetbal24 suggest the 24-year-old is keen to leave Leicester for Anfield.

However, Brendan Rodgers’ side have made keeping Tielemans, who has two years remaining on his current deal, a priority this summer and they are eager for him to pen a new contract.

Meanwhile, creative midfielder Maddison is being courted by Arsenal, with the Gunners looking to bounce back after a disappointing season which means they will not be involved in European football for the first time since 1995.

Howey, the former Leicester defender, feels the Foxes would be more inclined to let Maddison depart instead of Tielemans.

Speaking exclusively to Football FanCast, he said: “Tielemans would be the bigger loss, for me.

“Maddison is an excellent player but I think there were a couple of issues off the field last season. We all make mistakes, so I haven’t got a problem with that.

“Sometimes players just feel as though they could do with a move to give their career another spark. He might fall into that category. But, if I were him, it would have to be a very good offer from a very good club to tempt me away from Leicester.”

New Zealand’s line-up for the third Test against England at Trent Bridge on Thursday could feature as many as three changes from the side that lost at Old Trafford last week, as the Kiwis attempt to battle back into a series that they looked to have in their control at the midway point of the second Test.After missing the Manchester match with an upset stomach, the teenaged seamer, Tim Southee, seems a sure bet to reclaim his place at the expense of Iain O’Brien, but it is the form and fortunes of two of New Zealand’s middle-order batsmen, James Marshall and Daniel Flynn, that will come in for the most scrutiny in the coming days.Flynn, 21, suffered an horrific facial injury on the second day at Old Trafford, when he ducked into a James Anderson bouncer and was forced to retire hurt with two missing front teeth. He did not reappear in the second innings, and though he played during the warm-up match against Northamptonshire at the weekend, he was a notable failure, lasting just 12 balls in two innings.Flynn has been enduring several bouts of dental surgery between innings, but his coach, John Bracewell, described him as a “tough rooster” and backed him to resume his two-Test international career sooner rather than later. Apesar das poucas chances, Fellipe Bastos é um jogador bem avaliado internamente.

Além da observação da rotina do CT Joaquim Grava, em que o jogador é sempre dos mais animados com as atividades e brincalhão com os companheiros, há o elemento interno, de participação em decisões coletivas e até mesmo uso da palavra em preleções e momentos pré-jogo. Aos 27 anos e com ampla experiência internacional, o jogador é respeitado pelos companheiros e considerado um líder do atual elenco, em que os capitães mais frequentes são Fagner, Rodriguinho e Balbuena.

Titular no início da temporada, Fellipe Bastos perdeu espaço com o retorno de Maycon da Seleção Brasileira sub-20. -Ele vai ter que passar por um processo e precisa entender que quando um jogador vem da Arábia e da China precisa passar por um trabalho, lá é menos intenso. Ele pega muito bem na bola, tem marcação forte, preenche bem o campo adversário, vinha trabalhando como primeiro volante na Arábia. A gente tem todas essas informações. Ele é um jogador de personalidade, busca o jogo para tentar armar, com certeza em algum tempo vai estar na melhor condição física e vai nos ajudar muito – sentenciou o treinador, na época.

No dia a dia do CT Joaquim Grava, Fellipe Bastos costuma realizar trabalhos complementares em relação às atividades comandadas por Fabio Carille. Em cobranças de falta, por exemplo, o jogador se dedica por cerca de 15 minutos após cada fim de treinamento, mesmo sem a oportunidade de testar a precisão da cobrança nos jogos.

Fellipe Bastos estará no banco de reservas do Corinthians na partida deste domingo, às 16h, contra a Ponte Preta, pela ida das finais do Campeonato Paulista. Ele já foi jogador da própria Macaca, em 2013, e hoje tem contrato por duas temporadas no Timão.

AFC Bournemouth remain keen on Newcastle United’s Freddie Woodman, who may now be available for loan again, Chronicle Live journalist Lee Ryder reports.

The lowdown

Woodman got as far as having a medical with the Cherries and was preparing to join up with his new team-mates for a pre-season training camp in Marbella (via The Northern Echo).

But Newcastle opted to pull the plug on the deal at the eleventh hour following an injury to first-choice ‘keeper Martin Dubravka.

Woodman also spent last season loan in the second tier, helping Swansea City reach the playoff final.

In 45 league appearances, he conceded only 38 goals and kept 20 clean sheets – the most in the division.

The 24-year-old has two years left on his Newcastle contract and is valued at £9million by Transfermarkt.

The latest

Karl Darlow, another of Dubravka’s deputies, is due back in training this week after recovering from Covid-19.

He could play some part in the Toon’s behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley on Tuesday, which would point towards him being available for Newcastle’s first league game at home to West Ham on 15 August.

The ‘debate’ over whether Woodman should be loaned out is now expected to resurface.

Bournemouth are still described as ‘keen’, while the player himself is hoping to go out on loan in search of regular first-team football.

The verdict

Newcastle should now grant Woodman the move he desires, whether that’s Bournemouth or elsewhere. You’d imagine there’ll be no shortage of suitors after his impressive displays in the Championship.

Mark Gillespie is a capable no. 2 in the mean-time, and Newcastle could even try to insert a straightforward recall option in the Woodman loan agreement as an additional safety net.

In the long-term, a larger question about his his role at St James’ Park looms. Dubravka and Darlow are 32 and 30 respectively and should be able to continue performing for a number of years. Come next summer, the Magpies may choose to cash in.

Os últimos jogos do Grêmio na temporada levantaram alguns questionamentos na cabeça do torcedor gremista. Principalmente sobre o trabalho que vem sendo feito pelo treinador, Renato Portaluppi. A derrota para o Iquique, na última quarta feira, e a eliminação nos pênaltis para o Novo Hamburgo, pelo Campeonato Gaúcho, expôs a fase ruim da equipe.

Na Libertadores, o estrago não foi grande, em termos de classificação. O Grêmio ainda é líder, com dez pontos, e não corre riscos sérios de ficar de fora das oitavas de final. Já no Gauchão, a eliminação na semifinal para o Novo Hamburgo abriu as portas para um novo título do rival Internacional, o sétimo seguido, se concretizado.

Para Renato, no entanto, está tudo bem. O treinador culpou a arbitragem na derrota de quarta, e disse que em nada vai mudar os treinamentos da equipe para a sequência da temporada.

“Quando o resultado não aparece, tudo está errado. Vamos seguir assim, não vou mudar nada nos treinos do time.”
