Em um duelo de poucas oportunidades de gol, Fluminense e Cruzeiro empataram, nesta quinta-feira, em 1 a 1 pela 15ª rodada do Campeonato Brasileiro. Cada time dominou uma etapa, mas o placar final não deve ter agradado nenhum dos técnicos, e, de fato, não agradou a torcida tricolor presente no Giulite Coutinho, que vaiou a equipe ao término do confronto.

A igualdade mantém os times separados por um ponto na tabela do Brasileirão: a Raposa tem 22, enquanto o Tricolor tem 21. Domingo, a equipe de Abel Braga volta a jogar no Rio de Janeiro: recebe o Corinthians no Maracanã, às 16h. O clube celeste encara o Avaí, no mesmo dia e horário, no Mineirão.

O JOGO

O gramado do Giulite Coutinho, apesar de visualmente parecer bom, atrapalhou demais o início do jogo. A cada passe ou dividida, voava areia para todos lados e, tanto o Cruzeiro quanto o Flu, tiveram muita dificuldade para rodar a bola.

Assim, os primeiros lances de perigo foram em chutes de longe, os quais os goleiros Júlio César e Fábio defenderam sem maiores problemas. Com um time mais experiente, o Cruzeiro se adaptou mais rápido às condições do campo e passou a dominar o jogo, com Thiago Neves carimbando a bola no meio-campo celeste.

Quando a defesa tricolor deu espaço, o camisa 10 invadiu a área e encontrou Sassá livre de marcação. O atacante fez 1 a 0 sem dificuldades. A resposta do Flu foi imediata. Wendel deu ótimo passe para Richarlison, que ganhou na velocidade de Lucas Romero e foi derrubado na área. Até então, os meio-campistas do Tricolor se limitaram a trocar passes laterais.

O próprio Richarlison foi para a cobrança e repetiu o estilo e a eficiência de Henrique Dourado, lesionado: 1 a 1 aos 41 minutos da etapa inicial. Alívio para o Tricolor, que voltou mais ligado após o intervalo.

A queda de rendimento do Cruzeiro foi grande, mas a melhora do time de Abel Braga também se deu pela maior participação de Scarpa, que não foi bem no primeiro tempo. O Flu passou a abrir o jogo e usar bem as laterais, com Léo chegando bem à linha de fundo. Mas, quando a defesa celeste não travou o cruzamento, o experiente Fábio apareceu bem e defendeu as finalizações de Richarlison e Gustavo Scarpa.

Abel trocou o inoperante Pedro por Calazans, visando explorar a velocidade do meia-atacante pela esquerda. Mano Menezes respondeu com as entradas de Rafael Marques, Raniel e Bryan, mas a atuação celeste na etapa final continuou sofrível.

O fim do jogo foi se aproximando e as chances de gol foram tornando-se cada vez mais raras. Quando Scarpa recebeu livre na área e, cara à cara com Fábio, finalizou para fora, o Flu desperdiçou a chance da segunda vitória consecutiva e o empate deixou os dois times fora do G6.

What’s the word?

Italian outlet Calciomercato claim two teams are keen on landing the Paris Saint-Germain striker, who is expected to leave Les Parcs des Princes by the end of the current campaign.

Spurs would have to battle Serie A outfit Juventus for his signature, though it remains to be seen how much he would command.

Transfermarkt currently value the Argentina international at £36m, nearly 18 months after costing the French giants around €50m (£45m) plus €7m (£6m) in add-ons.

Perfect Kane foil

It’s no secret that Lilywhites manager Nuno Santo originally wanted to deploy a system involving a two-man attack, targeting Danny Ings prior to his move to Aston Villa, as per the Telegraph’s Matt Law.

That clearly hasn’t been able to come to fruition, so for now, Harry Kane remains his only senior striker, with no backup – or in this case, no evident strike partner.

Icardi is in a similar mould to Ings, only a little more creative and of course, he has much more experience at the elite level.

Described as an “animal in the box” by ex-Inter boss Stefan Pioli, the 28-year-old talisman has frequently scored goals wherever he’s been. He’s just been unfortunate to be behind the likes of Kylian Mbappe, Neymar and now Lionel Messi.

At the San Siro, the 6-foot marksman bagged 124 goals in 219 appearances, averaging a direct contribution every 114 minutes, via Transfermarkt.

And he has somewhat continued such exploits in France, despite not starting more than 20 matches in any Ligue 1 campaign.

Icardi has scored 36 goals in just 72 appearances for PSG, managing a goal pretty much every other time he’s out on the pitch. That’s pretty good going.

But what makes him the perfect foil for Kane is his ability to not just offer something slightly different in the attack but also deliver some much-needed creativity.

As per WhoScored, the Argentine forward has averaged a total of 1.1 key passes every 90 minutes, with a career-best of 1.3 per game coming last term. When you have someone as clinical as Kane, he’ll only need that one chance, so it could be a match made in heaven.

Spurs sporting director Fabio Paratici and the club’s recruitment team must seriously consider a move for Icardi in the upcoming transfer windows.

وأضاف: “الأهلي يحتاج للتعاقد مع مدافع خصوصًا بعد رحيل بدر بانون، ويحتاج للتعاقد مع لاعب ينافس علي معلول في مركزه، وأنصحهم بالبحث عن لاعبين في أوروبا الشرقية، ولا ينحصر بحثهم في شمال إفريقيا”.

وأكمل: “لدي بعض الملاحظات على ريكاردو سواريش لن تكون في صالحه، لكن في النهاية هو جاء في وقت صعب ومن الصعب تقييمه، وفايلر من أفضل المدربين الذين تولوا تدريب الأهلي”.

Sony moved the court after receiving a notice of termination on Saturday from the BCCI, which runs the IPL. The court ruled that the freeze on IPL signing another broadcast deal would stand until the matter is heard.The broadcast dispute could not have come at a worse time for IPL, which is still in discussion with the Indian government over a clash of dates between the second edition next month and the general elections.IPL officials were unavailable for a reaction. Rohit Gupta, president of network sales at Multi Screen Media Pvt Ltd, which holds the IPL contract under the Sony umbrella, said it would be inappropriate to comment right now.The BCCI cited a breach of contract on Sony’s part as reason for the termination, after which the court decided to adjourn the case to Tuesday noon, PTI reported.The court was also told that the BCCI terminated Sony’s contract on Saturday night and signed a new deal with WSG (Mauritius) at 3 am on Sunday.The IPL’s relationship with Sony had turned rocky last month after the IPL lost out on a US$31.16 million deal because of a dispute between Sony and Big TV, a direct-to-home provider. O volante Jean recebeu em sua casa no Rio de Janeiro a reportagem do LANCE!. Ele entrará em campo às 20h desta segunda-feira diante do Atlético-PR em mais uma partida do Vasco no Campeonato Brasileiro. Além de assuntos campo e bola, o jogador cruz-Maltino revelou um lado romântico. Ao lado de sua noiva, a catarinense Quézi Hubert, de 24 anos, ele mantém um relacionamento a distância a cinco anos e contou que conheceu ela pelo Twitter.

– Conheci ela no dia 26 de março de 2012. Nos conhecemos pelo Twitter. Gostava de postar muita frase de reflexão, era bem poeta, ela foi e me seguiu por essas frases. Aí eu ‘peraí, me seguiu’ (risos). Começamos a conversar, o sentimento começou a rolar. Eu comecei a namorar com ela e ela não estava sabendo (risos). Quando ela descobriu, ela aceitou (risos) – afirmou o jogador do Vasco antes de completar:

– Passamos por muitas coisas incríveis no relacionamento. Por exemplo, nos marcamos de nos encontrar e eu estava na Argentina. Era outubro de 2012 e tinha um show do cantor Thalles Roberto. Ela foi de Santa Catarina, onde mora. E foi para valer do jeito Jean de ser, como o próprio mesmo classifica. O casamento está marcado para dezembro deste ano e será realizado no Rio de Janeiro. Durante a conversa com o LANCE!, Quézi e Jean lembraram também os momentos que jogava no Paraná e ele ia de ônibus para Santa Catarina. Guarda até hoje os bilhetes comprados como recordação. Os motoristas da rodoviária já o conheciam e o ajudavam para não perder a condução quando imprevistos aconteciam, principalmente quando ele viajava aos sábados.

– Cheguei naquele jeito Jean de ser, delicadamente, cheguei empurrando (risos). Colocar a mão no olho todo mundo faz isso, quis inovar (risos). Fui para a casa dela e em dezembro pedi ela em namoro. Vamos nos casar em dezembro aqui no Rio mesmo. Namoro a distância funcionar, funciona. Mas também por estarmos dispostos a isso, abrindo mão de umas coisas e se entregando em outras. Agora é só esperar o próximo passo – concluiu.

With Southampton having only managed to create five big chances in the Premier League so far this season, the joint-second lowest out of any team in the top flight, it’s safe to say Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side have struggled to create goalscoring opportunities in the league.

However, it seems as though the club have their eye on signing a player who could help them in that regard.

What’s the news?

It has recently been reported by Spanish media outlet Fichajes that Southampton, alongside fellow Premier League clubs Everton and Brighton & Hove Albion are interested in signing Real Betis attacking-midfielder Rodri Sanchez.

Sanchez joined Betis’ youth academy from Deportivo’s youth academy back in the 2016 summer transfer window.

Since then, the 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £1.35m according to Transfermarkt, has worked his way through Betis’ youth levels before eventually making his senior debut in  November last year in a 5-2 defeat against Barcelona in La Liga.

Overall, Sanchez has made a total of 26 appearances for Manuel Pellegrini’s side across all competitions in which he has managed to score two goals and provide two assists along the way, showing just how creative he can be on the pitch.

The missing piece

In terms of a potential move to Southampton, given the attacking talent Sanchez has shown for Betis in front of goal, he could well be an important player for the Saints. That’s judging by how they’ve only managed to score five goals in their opening seven league games of the season.

With his young age, there’s every possibility that Sanchez could well be Southampton’s next James Ward-Prowse given they occupy similar positions in the final third. Both can play out wide, while their awareness allows them to dictate play from central areas as well.

Speaking about his talent last term after he found the net, La Liga and Spanish football writer Andrew Miller said: “One of the real bright spots this season has been the emergence of Rodri in the Betis first team. Such a gifted young player and caps off an incredible effort with his first senior goal. Always brings a real injection of energy into the team.”

That final line is incredibly similar to Ward-Prowse, somebody who charges around the engine room with his imperious fitness.

However, it’s that lack of a creative spark that really makes Rodri such an attractive proposition. He makes 45.4 progressive carries of the ball per 90, meaning he’d get Southampton up the pitch quicker. That stat also ranks him second among those already at St Mary’s.

Furthermore, he has produced 3.47 shot-creating actions per 90, a statistic that outranks everyone at Hasenhuttl’s disposal.

Looking ahead to the upcoming January transfer window, the Saints should definitely consider making a move for Sanchez to see if he can turn their season around from its current state. At the moment, they are devoid of creativity but that could change with the Betis star in their team.

However, with both Everton and Brighton supposedly interested in signing Sanchez as well, the Saints could have a fight on their hands to get him as both clubs are currently above Southampton in the league table.

While Valerien Ismael enjoyed a relatively quiet first transfer window in charge of West Bromwich Albion – with the Frenchman adding just three permanent signings to his Baggies squad, as well as three further players on season-long loan deals – there has been one summer addition who has particularly flourished since his move to The Hawthorns.

Having been managed by Ismael at Barnsley last season – a campaign in which he highly impressed, scoring eight goals, registering seven assists and averaging a SofaScore match rating of 7.10 over his 44 Championship appearances – Alex Mowatt is a player the 46-year-old Albion boss knows extremely well.

And, having snapped the 26-year-old up on a free transfer this summer, the former England U20 international has arguably already proven that he was West Brom’s best piece of business in the previous window.

“Massive player”

Despite West Brom’s squad being one that is full to the brim with players who boast a significant amount of Premier League experience, the midfielder who is yet to make a single appearance in the top flight has nevertheless been one of the club’s stand out stars so far this term.

Indeed, over his 11 Championship appearances for the Baggies, the £6.3m-rated central midfielder has scored three goals, registered one assist and has created two big chances for his teammates, as well as taking an average of 1.1 shots and making 1.5 key passes per game.

The man Ismael himself dubbed a “massive player” for Albion has also impressed in metrics more typical of his position, making an average of 1.9 interceptions, two tackles, 0.7 clearances and winning 5.5 duels per fixture.

These returns have seen the £6.5k-per-week midfielder average a rather remarkable SofaScore match rating of 7.21, ranking him as the Frenchman’s best performer in the second tier so far this term.

As such, considering the fact that the former Barnsley man did not cost West Brom a penny in transfer fees, the midfielder’s performances this season have certainly proven that the promotion hopefuls struck a dream deal with his signing, as it very much appears as if the 26-year-old will go on to play an influential role in the Baggies’ push for an immediate return to the Premier League in the current campaign.
