West Ham fans react to Nuno comments

Some West Ham United fans could not believe comments from Nuno Espirito Santo, who said that Tottenham were the better side during Spurs’ 1-0 defeat to the Hammers on Sunday.

The Irons picked up all three points against their capital rivals at the London Stadium thanks to a goal from Michail Antonio. They are now up to fourth in the Premier League table, and David Moyes and co will now be aiming to improve on last term’s sixth-place finish.

Tottenham did not have a shot in the second half, but that didn’t stop Nuno’s delusions of grandeur. He said after the clash that his team was the better of the two (via Sky Sports), something which obviously flabbergasted a number of West Ham supporters.

The comments were shared around on Twitter, and they attracted plenty of attention from Hammers supporters. These fans took to the social media platform to share their thoughts on what one of them called “deluded” remarks from Nuno.

Let’s see what these fans had to say about Nuno’s comments

PCB to continue legal battle with ICC

Ijaz Butt said he was disappointed those organisational issues surrounding the World Cup remained unresolved

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) says it will continue its legal battle against the ICC on the issue of hosting the 2011 World Cup after high-level talks at Lord’s today proved inconclusive. The four host nations of the 2011 World Cup met for the second day on Saturday following the PCB’s threat of legal action after Pakistan was stripped of hosting rights due to the security situation in the country. There was no statement from the ICC but the PCB said it was disappointed at the results of the meeting. The matter will now be discussed at the ICC’s annual board meeting next week.Ijaz Butt, the PCB chairman, said he was disappointed those organisational issues surrounding the World Cup remained unresolved and added that the legal proceedings the PCB has brought against the ICC would continue. “I had hoped and expected the support of my Asian co-hosts in resolving these organisational difficulties,” he said. “I am deeply disappointed that no progress was made despite the intervention of both the ICC president [David Morgan] and vice-president [Sharad Pawar].”This means that rather than harmony amongst the co-hosts of the 2011 World Cup we will have disagreement and legal dispute. I do hope that they will reconsider their unreasonable stance so that the legal dispute can be resolved and a hugely successful World Cup organised in 2011.”The ICC reiterated last week that Pakistan would not host matches in the 2011 tournament because of the security situation in the country but the PCB would be recognised as hosts and retain fees from its original allocation of 14 matches. ICC president David Morgan had said the ICC would consider outsourcing Pakistan’s matches to Abu Dhabi and Dubai, though co-hosts India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh were keen to have the matches remain in the subcontinent.

Phil Hay drops Leeds transfer claim on Raphinha

The Athletic’s Phil Hay has revealed the latest on Leeds United star Raphinha amid recent transfer speculation linking him with a move away from Elland Road.

What’s the story?

Reports have suggested that the likes of Liverpool are interested in making a move for the recently-capped Brazil international, and Hay has now indicated that the Whites will expect to receive offers for him.

He said: “Very hard to say. He’s bound to attract bids. All a case of what they are and when they arrive. Needless to say, no way in the world that Leeds would want to lose him in January.”

How long can Leeds keep him?

As is probably the case with another one of Leeds’ talismanic figures, Kalvin Phillips, it’s really now a case of when those bids arrive, and what those respective clubs will be looking to pay for them.

Had the Whites really pushed on from last season when they finished in the top-half of the table in their return back to the top-flight, then keeping the likes of Raphinha and Phillips for a while longer would seem much more plausible.

But if their current form continues, and they look short of contending for a place in Europe, then it will be inevitable that interest will increase – something former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has said about Raphinha in particular.

He said: “His stock is rising all of the time. Let’s not forget, there was already some interest in him last summer. Whether you like it or not, Leeds are not where they were 20 years ago. They are not what they once were.

“If one of the big boys comes in for him, Leeds will sell. They will sell. I think it is just a matter of time. I cannot see him being a Leeds player at the beginning of next season. If he continues to perform like this he will be gone.”

Hay’s claim is sure to worry fans about how much longer the Whites can keep hold of their talismanic winger. After all, it will be incredibly hard to replace his 19 goal involvements since arriving in Yorkshire.

Meanwhile, Graham Smyth has dropped an encouraging four-word Leeds United update…

Sempre esteve no meu lado e me apoiou.

Flower defends under-fire Pietersen

Andy Flower, the England coach, has defended Kevin Pietersen for his shot selection in Cardiff, and insisted the batsman would review his own performance and learn from the experience. Flower’s defence came after Geoff Boycott had accused Pietersen of acting like a “spoilt child” for giving away his innings with an over-ambitious paddle-sweep when well set on 69 in the first innings.”Pietersen is like a spoilt child, the family favourite who can get away with anything because he is the golden boy,” Boycott wrote in the Daily Telegraph. “Until someone takes the trouble to discipline him he will keep making the same stupid mistakes over and over again.””I don’t think you can just isolate him, even though he’s the most high-profile guy,” Flower said. “He, like any batsman, will review his game and the decisions he made, and he’ll regret that he got out. He’s playing for England, he’s very proud to play for England, and he’s trying to do his best and win games for us.”He’ll review that like any other sensible man would. The bottom line is you’ve got to make good decisions as batters. At the end of your career, season, or series, the sum of your results will be from the decisions you make. But Kevin must have made some good decisions, because he made 69 in the first dig.”Boycott, however, was not confident that Flower and England’s captain Andrew Strauss were capable of reprimanding Pietersen. “My concern is that there is no one in the England set up who will go up to Pietersen and tell him that this is not good enough,” he said. “Andrew Strauss and Andy Flower are both quiet men and frankly I do not think they have got the courage.”England held on to a draw in the Test after the last-wicket pair of James Anderson and Monty Panesar batted out close to 12 overs to save the game. Boycott questioned England’s ability to adapt to different match situations. “The trouble with England’s batsmen is that they are one-dimensional. They only want to play with an attacking mentality, and when they are presented with a situation that demands a different approach, they cannot adapt.”Flower, however, believed the fight England showed on the final day of that contest was evidence they had changed their mindsets mid-match. “It was a relief, they outplayed us, but in saying that I thought we did brilliantly to hang on,” he said. “To only lose seven wickets on that fifth-day pitch was a great effort. We’ll take a bit of confidence from the fight we showed.”We obviously talk about, and review, games, that’s standard practice, and there are all sorts of areas we could improve on,” he said. “Certainly, batting-wise, didn’t cash in when we had the opportunities, and bowling-wise we weren’t accurate enough to put them under pressure. But it was a flat deck and they all batted superbly.”

Entre os dias 21 e 26 vão se apresentar no Allianz: The Who, Alter Bridge, Bon Jovi, The Kills, Aerosmith, Def Leppard, Guns n’Roses e Alice Cooper.

Leeds: Dallas ran the game vs Leicester

Leeds United extended their unbeaten run in the Premier League to three games as they held Leicester to a 1-1 draw at Elland Road on Sunday.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side have not lost a match in the league since the 16th of October when they were beaten 1-0 by Southampton away from home.

Raphinha handed the Whites the lead in the 26th minute, only for Harvey Barnes to equalise for the Foxes two minutes later. They were the only goals of the game as the two sides were forced to settle for a point each, despite chances for both teams to win the match.

Forget Raphinha

The Brazilian forward may have scored the goal to put Leeds in front, but the show’s real star was Stuart Dallas as he ran the game for Bielsa. Whilst Raphinha found the back of the net, his overall performance was surprisingly lacking in quality as he struggled at times.

Per SofaScore, the ex-Rennes forward lost a whopping 12 of his 16 individual duels on the pitch. He also failed with six of his eight crossing attempts and was tackled seven times from his nine dribble attempts, failing to complete a single tackle himself. This suggests that he was not at his best against Leicester as his all-around game lacked cohesion.

Dallas, meanwhile, was able to piece together an excellent showing and caught the eye with his display. He made an impact at both ends of the pitch as his energetic performance helped Leeds control the game, with the Northern Ireland international helping Bielsa’s men in and out of possession.

Per SofaScore, he won five of his nine individual duels and made three tackles and two interceptions, whilst also making three clearances. He was also not dribbled past a single time, as he showed off his defensive solidity for the team.

On the ball, he also made some key contributions. Per SofaScore, he had an eye-catching 79 touches of the ball and created two chances for his teammates. The defender also hit the post and completed four long balls and crosses, showing that he was able to merge defensive nous with ability on the ball going forward.

This shows why the dynamo was Bielsa’s real hero against Leicester as he was able to perform to a high level at both ends of the pitch, whereas Raphinha left a lot to be desired with his all-around game.
