Utter nonsense: Liverpool fans react as PSG declare their interest in James Milner

[ad_pod ]

Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after it was reported by Le Parisian that French champions Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for James Milner.

The 33-year-old midfielder will be out of contract at Anfield next summer – although the aforementioned report wrongly states that it expires this summer – and Thomas Tuchel has reportedly been keeping tabs on the situation.

Mo Salah has been brutally mocked for his recent diving antics in a new video by 442oons. Check it out below…

Milner would offer the club from the French capital a wealth of experience and versatility, although it seems unlikely that he will go anywhere this summer given how important he is to Jurgen Klopp; the German boss has used Milner at left-back, right-back and in midfield throughout 2018/19.

He is also clearly loved by Reds supporters, who have taken to Twitter in numbers to have their say on this transfer story with some ordering PSG to back off.

Let’s take a look at some of the best tweets on this strange and inaccurate transfer story…

Sunderland fans hit back as Lyle Taylor continues war of words

[ad_pod ]

Loads of Sunderland fans have been reacting to a tweet from Lyle Taylor, who appeared to criticise the Black Cats’ owners.

The war of words has continued between Taylor and Sunderland owner Stewart Donald, after the Charlton striker opened up on his failed move to Wearside last week.

Taylor told The Sun: “There were things said and done by those above the manager (Jack Ross). That ended up why I didn’t go there and that’s why I play for Charlton and not Sunderland.

“At Charlton, the club were clear with everything. It was like, ‘This is what we’re going to do, this is what we want and this is what you want. Here’s the deal, if you like it, sign it. If you don’t, don’t sign it.’

“But, at Sunderland, it was wishy washy. We asked them for something while negotiating the contract and they said, ‘We can’t really give you that because if you don’t do that, are you going to pay us money back?’

Taylor complained that the club had quibbled over a small hotel bill, a claim that Donald disputed when speaking on the Roker Report podcast this week.

“That’s a little bit insulting. If that’s how Lyle Taylor feels, genuinely, then that’s how he feels. My personal view, I’m not really interested in Lyle Taylor if I’m honest,” Donald said.

“My view of it is, his family are all from London, he got offered a lot more to be up here, and still chose not to come, and did he not come because he didn’t like the people around the manager? I’m not sure about that.”

Taylor has now responded again, tweeting that the Black Cats are lying about the hotel bill dispute, and hinting that a goal bonus was what stifled the move.

The 29 year-old certainly made the right choice with the Addicks, bagging 25 goals en route to a dramatic play-off final win, but Black Cats fans are not impressed by his desire to continually put them down.

The Chalkboard: 3 positions Newcastle must strengthen this summer

[ad_pod ]

Newcastle are reportedly the subject of a takeover bid from Sheikh Khaled Bin Zayed Al Nehayan, but what must their priority be in the transfer market this summer?

A report from The Sun sent Tyneside wild this weekend, as the paper suggested a takeover from Mike Ashley is already complete.

While that report seems to have jumped the gun slightly, there is clearly strong interest in the Magpies, with reports in the Middle East, verified by Pete Graves of Sky Sports, claiming the takeover will indeed happen at some point.

On Wednesday, The Evening Chronicle shared a statement from the Bin Zayed group, saying: “Terms have been agreed between us and Mike Ashley; these terms have been reflected in a document, signed by both parties, which has been forwarded to the Premier League.”

So, assuming the club’s new owners will give Rafael Benitez the cash injection a manager of his calibre deserves, what are the Magpies’ first ports of call this summer?

Striker

Salomon Rondon was excellent on Tyneside, showing exactly what can happen when Rafa gets his man.

Benitez’s checklist for a number nine is complex, as they need to be powerful enough to hold the ball up, but mobile and athletic enough to make constant runs that stretch the defence.

Former Wigan & Fulham man, Jimmy Bullard recently showed that he’s still got it! Check out the video below…

Without a player to do this, the likes of Ayoze Perez and Miguel Almiron will have no space to work their magic, evidenced by how poor Perez was whenever he played with Aleksandar Mitrović, who fills Benitez’s first requirement but not the second.

A striker of Rondon’s quality or better must be the first priority.

Centre-mid

All great sides have a great spine, which is why central midfield is the next department in line for an upgrade.

Isaac Hayden, Mo Diame and Jonjo Shelvey could all leave, so regardless of whether or not Manchester United swoop for Sean Longstaff, midfield reinforcements are a must.

Left-back

Finally, Benitez desperately needs a left-back. Playing with five at the back asks a lot of the wide men, and while Javi Manquillo and DeAndre Yedlin are far from perfect, at least they are actually right-backs.

On the left, a combination of Paul Dummett, who is definitely not an attacking wing-back, and winger Matt Ritchie was the first choice for Rafa by the end of the campaign, which is simply not good enough.

Liverpool fans take to Twitter to call for De Ligt

[ad_pod ]

There will be a lot of huge transfers going through this summer, that much is almost guaranteed. In a single summer, we could potentially see a whole host of clubs break their transfer records, as two of the top six did last year.

Not many are backing Liverpool to do so, but as the Reds faithful discuss a possible move for Matthijs De Ligt it is simply impossible to rule anything out over the next few months.

Many fans have taken issue with the above tweet, and it’s not hard to see why as they yearn for an era of dominance.

At the moment, Virgil Van Dijk is probably the most popular answer to the question: Who is the best defender in the world? But by no stretch do Liverpool have the best centre-back pairing.

That’s down to the fact that Joel Matip and Dejan Lovren aren’t of the calibre that the Kopites are aiming for and Joe Gomez is always injured, yet if De Ligt signed Anfield would boast the best defence in the world on a weekly basis.

We’re already set to see the incredible van Dijk alongside de Ligt for the next few years at international level as the Oranje aim to get back to their previous heights. Whether or not that will happen at Anfield too with the same pairing is yet to be seen, even if it does look very unlikely. Offer de Ligt to Liverpool fans, though, and they’d all jump at the chance to have him at the heart of their back four.

Get him signed: Leicester fans discuss transfer interest in Ivan Perisic

[ad_pod ]

Per a report from Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Leicester are interested in Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic.

The winger has been one of the most consistent in Europe over recent years so if they were to conclude a deal for the Croatian it would be a serious statement of intent.

Earlier this week Manchester United rejected an offer from Inter which saw the Serie A side want to swap him in a deal for Romelu Lukaku.

But amid interest from the Foxes, their fans have taken to Twitter to discuss a potential audacious transfer swoop.

One supporter admitted he’d be a class signing but speculated whether it would actually happen. A further fan claimed a move for Perisic would be a dream.

More reaction saw an individual say it would be the calibre of signing that could convince their best players to remain at the club.

The Croatian international has won 82 caps for his country and was among their squad that reached the World Cup final last year.

For Inter the 30-year-old managed eight goals in the league last term whilst also laying on three strikes for his teammates.

Here’s the best of the reaction.

Selfish: Rafael Camacho needs to take a leaf out of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s book

[ad_pod ]

As reported by Portuguese outlet A Bola, Rafael Camacho is refusing to sign a new contract and wants to leave Liverpool.

Camacho made his senior debut for the Reds last season, playing all 90 minutes at right-back against Wolves as Jurgen Klopp’s side were knocked out of the FA Cup.

12 days later, the Portuguese youngster came off the bench against Crystal Palace to make his Premier League debut at Anfield, but he didn’t seem all too happy about being played in defence as he revealed in an eye-opening Instagram post a few months after his debut.

/BwQLgZ6gFND/?utm_source=ig_embed

“I do not know whose idea it is, but I will prove that they are mistaken about my football. I’m not a right defender, I’m an attacker who scores goals. This is my DNA.”

These are the words of the teenager after he hit a stunning hat-trick for Liverpool’s Under-23 side against their Leicester City counterparts, and it is quite apparent that he sees himself as an attacker.

To be honest, this is a terrible attitude for a young footballer to have.

As they work for a chance to get into the first team, a young player should be willing to play literally anywhere for the side – even in goal.

Nobody knows this better than Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold. The right-back has just become a Champions League winner at the age of 20, and recorded more assists than any other defender in Europe with a whopping 16 to his name.

Interestingly, however, Alexander-Arnold wasn’t always a right-back but took the role under his wing in order to get into the first-team.

He told the BBC: “When I was younger I was always a defensive centre-mid player – someone who liked to get on the ball and make things happen.

“I am happy to play wherever the boss wants me. At the moment he sees me as a full-back and I am happy there. It is important to bring in different dimensions to the position.”

This is a prime example of the attitude a young footballer should have, and one that has launched the academy graduate amongst some of the best players in Europe in his adopted position.

Camacho should put his career as a footballer ahead of his personal preferences, and try to take a leaf out of Alexander-Arnold’s book in terms of attitude.

Spurs fans split over potential Clarke deal

[ad_pod ]

Tottenham Hotspur supporters are split over the prospect of signing Jack Clarke from Leeds United this summer, with journalist Alan Nixon claiming that a deal is close to completion.

Clarke is reportedly set to move for £8.5m, which could rise to £13m due to add-ons.

And fans have been left mixed over the prospect of bringing in an inexperienced teenager in this transfer window.

The 18-year-old made his first-team breakthrough under Marcelo Bielsa in 2018/19, making a total of 25 appearances in all competitions, scoring twice and registering two assists.

He was included in the starting XI a mere four times, though, and it remains to be seen if he will break into Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team next season.

Fabinho and Shaqiri reply to Firmino’s Copa America snap

[ad_pod ]

While some players have the luxury of enjoying the sun and the seaside after a long season, others are still hard at work defending their national team’s colours.

Roberto Firmino and Brazil are already tearing it up in this year’s iteration of Copa America, and Liverpool’s ace has already registered two wins and a draw to top the group.

In their latest bout, Firmino scored one of his signature no-look goals as the Selecao strolled past Peru with five goals to nil. The Brazilian shared a snap on

/BzB3Z4TlTmc/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link” data-lasso->Instagram after they won the group.

Firmino posted a motivational message to go along with the image, and soon enough, his friends and teammates responded, showering the 27-year-old forward with praise.

Fabinho was first to the scene and simply told Firmino that there’s no one quite like him, calling him different than the rest.

Reds fans will particularly love Fabinho’s comment, considering from as far back as 2016 the Anfield faithful have enjoyed how “weird” the man they call “Bobby” truly is.

Xherdan Shaqiri also shared a reply of support after the impressive Brazil victory.

Real Madrid set to pursue Eriksen in major boost to Spurs

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

Real Madrid are set to pursue a deal to sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham Hotspur this summer after manager Zinedine Zidane grew frustrated with the club’s attempts to acquire Paul Pogba from Manchester United, per Bernabeu Digital.

What’s the word?

Watch Tottenham Hotspur Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

Real, the report claims, attempted to secure a deal for the France international but were told that they would have to pay over €150m (£134.2m), while Pogba is also wanted by former club Juventus.

As such, Zidane is said to have grown tired of pursuing the 26-year-old and has subsequently given the green light to a bid for Eriksen.

The Spurs star confirmed earlier this summer that he is keen to leave the club in this transfer window and Real have long been linked with a potential interest.

Now the Spanish giants are keen to seal a deal before the beginning of pre-season, on July 8th, with Eriksen already looking for a home in the Spanish capital and Spurs willing to negotiate.

The north London club, after all, are closing in on the signing of Lyon’s Tanguy Ndombele, though they want €80m (£71.5m) for the Denmark international.

A major summer boost

Spurs need funds for the summer.

The club are already working on a deal to sign Ndombele and are also said to have targeted Real Betis star Giovani Lo Celso.

The latter has an £88m release clause in his contract, however, and an Estadio Deportivo report claims that the club may need to sell Eriksen to have any chance of affording him.

That Zidane has now seemingly given the go-ahead of Real to pursue a deal for the 27-year-old will be music to the ears of Mauricio Pochettino.

He needs to refresh his squad and, while Eriksen has been a key part of his plans in recent years, moving him on can only be a good thing if it means that the money is properly reinvested.

The signing of Lo Celso would almost certainly be proper reinvestment.

Arsenal should steer well clear of signing Real Madrid’s Marcelo

[ad_pod ]

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Transfer Focus series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent transfer news…

According to Spanish publication Sport, Real Madrid star Marcelo is drawing interest from Arsenal ahead of a potential move to the Emirates this summer.

What’s the word?

The report claims that Marcelo – who is valued at £22.5m by Transfermarkt –  has asked the Spanish giants to allow him to leave and that the left-back has suitors from France and Italy as well as from the Gunners.

It adds that the signing of Lyon defender Ferland Mendy has caused him to consider his long-term future at the Santiago Bernabeu and whether he will be an automatic first-choice over the coming years.

The indoor football skills in the video below have to be seen to be believed…

Despite the trophy-laden career the Brazilian has enjoyed, Unai Emery’s side simply cannot be the place for the 31-year-old to enjoy his final swansong.

Look to the future, not the past

Four Champions League titles. Four La Liga titles. And a bucketload of domestic titles to boot too. When you look at Marcelo’s resume, it’s hard to imagine a side passing up on his talents if he was made available on the transfer market. The guy is a trophy machine.

But at the Emirates, things are a little different. Money is notoriously tight and Emery’s first season in charge tried to shape the future.

Reports in recent weeks have suggested the Gunners are very keen on signing Celtic’s Kieran Tierney to solve their left-back issues. The Scotland international is 22, dynamic both with and without the ball, and has a lot more room to grow. The same cannot be said of an ageing Brazilian whose season last year was so under-par, that he was left out of his country’s Copa America squad this summer.

The stats don’t make pretty reading either for the defender. Last year, in 34 appearances across all competitions, the Brazil international managed just three goals and six assists; the season before that, he contributed five goals and 11 assists.

Watch Arsenal Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

The Premier League has long been known for its pace, intensity and general up-and-down nature. Marcelo’s time at La Liga has been characterised by his work going forward and there have been question marks about his defensive prowess. After the troubles Emery had with trying to deal with Sead Kolasinac, the Gunners are in no need of another all-out attack full-back who can be a liability going back towards his own goal.

Arsenal are in desperate need of an overhaul, but that should not mean they turn their attentions towards a 31-year-old left-back on the decline and on enormous wages.
